The best deer jerky has a balance of salty and sweet flavors. That can be salt and spices sprinkled on the raw meat and allowed to rest overnight, or, more popular, a marinade. READ NEXT: How to Cook Venison: The Best Ways to Cook Every Cut Step 2: Marinade and Cure You have a ton of options when it comes to seasoning or marinating your jerky. While ground meat jerky doesn’t have the rewarding chew of sliced, many jerky lovers say the flavor is better since the seasoning runs throughout the ground meat. You’ll use a jerky gun, which looks like a large caulk gun and comes with various tips for squeezing out flat strips of ground meat for drying. The basic idea is to mix it with your favorite commercial or homemade jerky seasoning and form it into long, thin strips to dry. Have a few packs of last year’s ground meat in the freezer that you need to use up? Here’s how to make deer jerky from ground meat. While not adjustable for thickness, these units turn out a very uniform slice about ¼ inch thick and do it in a hurry. Often sold as a combo unit that includes a cuber attachment, these slicers have a large open neck at the top that allows the user to drop in a large cut of meat and guides it through a set of blades that turn with the crank of an outside handle. They have sliding guides that allow you to adjust the thickness of each piece, and make short work of several pounds of venison.Īnother handy option to crank out several pounds of jerky strips in a hurry is a crank-style jerky slicer. If you really enjoy jerky and want to make large batches, consider investing in an electric meat slicer. These guides are made from metal or wood and feature a shallow tray to hold the meat and thickness guide. Next, on the list is a jerky slicing guide. Work in batches, taking only as much meat out of the freezer at a time as you can slice before it softens back up. Partially freezing the meat for an hour or two before slicing helps to firm it up and makes hand slicing at a consistent thickness easier to accomplish. First, and by far the simplest, is a good sharp knife. There are a number of ways to slice your venison. I slice most of my jerky around ¼ inch in thickness. My preference is somewhere in the middle. Thin strips of meat dry fast, but they can get overdone in a hurry, leaving you with a crispy piece of meat that crumbles more than chews. Thick jerky also takes a lot longer to dry. Thicker slices, while meaty and satisfying, don’t keep well without refrigeration. What thickness, you ask? It’s up to you, to a point. Having a mix of thin and thick jerky drying means going through it constantly to pick out thinner pieces that may be finished, while a thicker piece next to it might still need hours before it’s safe to eat. You want the jerky to dry at an even rate. The most important part of slicing jerky is to make it a consistent thickness. Try them both and see which one you prefer. Going against makes the jerky more tender and easier to eat. Slicing with the grain gives the finished product more of a satisfying chew when you bite it. When it comes to slicing jerky meat, you have some choices. The best cuts of meat for jerky are top eye, and bottom round roasts, sirloin tips (that football shaped roast on the back hams), rump roasts, and neck roasts. Just about any lean part of your deer can be made into jerky. For the purpose of this article, we will concentrate on venison, but the techniques transfer over to just about any kind of meat. Venison of all kinds is popular, as is beef, pronghorn, bison, African plains animals-you name it. You can make jerky out of just about any lean meat. Step 1: Preparing the Meat Generally, you want to keep your slices about a quarter-inch thin. But, with modern appliances, we can make enough jerky to last an entire hunting season in a day or two, all while going about our normal day-to-day schedule. Those methods are time and labor intensive. In its earliest forms, jerky meant thin strips of salted meat dried either in the sun or over a smoky fire. It’s a simple process that has been used for centuries to preserve venison. But, to attain that heightened state of meat happiness, you’ll need to know how to make deer jerky. It’s even better when you make it yourself. A pocketful of jerky is pure bliss for most hunters.

With the ebike market ever-expanding, how do you see the range competing in today’s global market? MR: Yes, I knew that in order to make ebikes popular, I had to build something different and distinct from the current, stale electric bikes. NB: It’s interesting that you decided to launch the brand with the unusual RadRover electric fat tire bike model. Here’s why.The deck can carry cargo accessories or convert into scooter-style seating Rad Power Bikes There are a few wrinkles that could use ironing out, but overall I definitely recommend it. But, after a week of putting the Lectric XP 2.0 through its paces, I’ve been pleasantly surprised. Plus, it comes fully assembled and ready to roll for under $1,000 shipped. It’s the company’s most feature-rich bike that promises to be durable, adjustable, foldable, and fast. So, I was stoked when Lectric eBike offered to send a tester of its Lectric XP 2.0 e-bike. There are cheaper electric bikes on the market, but in my experience, you have to spend at least $1,000 to get a quality model. Personally, I work from home and don’t have two grand in disposable income to throw at something just for kicks. That’s why many people, myself included, shy away from them. But, they can be pricey - like $2,000-or-more pricey. They’re a unique combination of practical, fast, rechargeable, and, most importantly, fun. The RadWagon needs to be mentioned if only because of the sheer variety of layouts I’ve seen built into it. It’s a great little ride for bombing over dirt or gravel, and its trimmed-down stance makes it more rideable for smaller riders or adolescents. The RadRover is essentially a slightly smaller, stouter version of the RadCity, but equipped with fat tires for off-road grip. Its upright beach cruiser stance is perfect for navigating urban spaces, and its performance is outstanding: Solid acceleration and above-average range. The RadCity - which as of this writing is in its fourth edition - is a pretty great all-around e-bike. Standout Rad Power BikesĬurrently, Rad Power offers seven models, several of which are available in step-thru versions. They’re particularly good options for families who can benefit from the diverse models offered and general ease of use. In any case, overall both the bikes and the shops are pretty impressive. But does Rad forecast the potential for more service than unusual? Or is it just part of the company’s ecosystem? Maybe we’ll update this article in a year or so and you can find out. E-bikes are admittedly pretty techy, and from what I’ve seen pretty much every e-bike will need maintenance at some point. That adds cohesion to the ownership experience that is hard not to appreciate.Īt the same time, the skeptic in me does wonder if the omnipresence of service centers means the bikes are expected to require service on an overly regular basis. For example, while my bike came from the shop in Seattle, I brought it to the Vancouver location when I needed brake service. I’m a big fan of how sleek the shops are, and how you can replicate your experience from one location to the next. It has a somewhat more family-oriented atmosphere than that of a VanMoof shop - VanMoof leans more toward techy professionals. As I mentioned above, the shops have a car dealership vibe that not only makes for an enjoyable shopping experience, but it also makes the service process easy. One of the major draws to Rad Power is the wider e-bike ecosystem. Other than that, I have no complaints about their quality and ridability. And if you expect to carry one up and down a flight of apartment stairs on a regular basis, forget it. All the models I’ve tried have been extremely heavy - heavier than any other brand I’ve come across - which makes it difficult to load them onto a transportation rack. The only issue I have with them is their weight. And they’re comfortable enough for long rides. Their range and speed are impressive, rivaling anything I’ve seen. Unlike other e-bikes in the more affordable segment (unless you go crazy with options, Rad bikes top out at under $2,500), its components never feel flimsy and the build quality is solid. From my experience, Rad’s bikes offer a smooth, fun riding experience. Jessica’s fears and anxiety are her driving force, but wearing the Sinestro Corp’s ring finally showed her that. It didn’t have to be a bad thing but could become the motivation she and others needed. With Sinestro’s help, she realized that fear was just another tool she could use to push people to help themselves and others. In Green Lantern (2021) Annual #1 (by Ryan Cady, Sami Basri, Tom Derenick, and Rob Leigh), Cruz stumbled across a refugee ship in need and decided to finally use her ring to help people rather than just a ride home. At first reluctant, Jessica refused to use the Yellow Lantern’s ring as anything other than a ride home. Fear may have become her weakness, but it could also be used as her strength. So when the yellow ring went to her in Future State: Green Lantern (by Geoffrey Thorne, Tom Raney, and Michael Atiyeh), she was more than surprised at the outcome. Her fear held her back, and even though she remained a Green Lantern, there was always going to be anxiety. Jessica thought she was unworthy because she couldn’t “overcome fear on a daily basis,” but despite that, pushed herself to continue. When Jessica was reintroduced in Green Lanterns: Rebirth (by Geoff Johns, Sam Humphries, Ed Benes, and Ethan Van Sciver), she struggled with her belief in herself. Related: Jessica Cruz Earns A Green Lantern Ring Years Before The Corps in New Origin In her short time as a Yellow Lantern, Jessica already proved herself able to do many good things that she never thought she could do and found that her fear and the fear of others was a powerful tool. She didn’t have to succumb to evil, and could instead pave the way to become a leading force of good within the Corps. The revived and god-like Cruz rallied together a rag-tag group of heroes, including Cyborg, Dex-Starr, and Orion of New Genesis, to confront Darkseid. At first, Jessica wanted nothing to do with Sinestro and the Corps, but she discovered that she could use the ring with the good in her heart to help those in need. In the meantime, Darkseid resumed his quest to conquer all existence, using The Revision Mechanism of The Chamber of Epoch to remake reality in his image. It is speculated that the fragments of the Ring crushed into her hand used the Omega radiation to revive and empower Jessica. During her previous battle with the villain, he crushed her Power Ring into her hand before zapping her with the Beams. Two issues later, however, Jessica returned to life, not only wielding her Power Ring but also supercharged with Omega Radiation. She does just that in Justice League Odyssey #25 by writer Dan Abnett ( Endless Winter) artist Will Conrad ( Cyborg) and colorist Rain Beredo (Star Wars).Īlmost a year before, in issue twelve of Odyssey, Darkseid seemingly killed Jessica in battle using his Omega Beams. He has already “killed” her once, and now, revived and more powerful than ever, she is looking to settle the score. On the lighting side the ending is far too dark and we don't get much of a chance to see Van Damme taking out the bad chaps. And what's up with Van Damme's permed hairdo, which makes him look like a sissy? Along with this and the fact that he has to do the splits as much as humanly possible, it just makes him look like a poseur. To add to the mainstream appeal, there's a heck of a lot of nudity and explicit sexual content too, much more than the brief instances in most Van Damme films. On top of this, the various baddies all have ridiculous '80s costumes on, seemingly left from a previous Van Damme flick entitled CYBORG. Unfortunately, this "pod" as it appears to be, looks like it's made of cheap plastic and has a tiny little gas flame popping out of the back to simulate the powerful drive of the vehicle - except it looks just like a silly little gas flame. must climb inside a BACK TO THE FUTURE-inspired pod car which then races off down a chute. In order to travel back to the past, Van Damme and co. While cheesiness is sometimes an easing factor when watching bad '80s horror films, here it just seems embarrassing. What I disliked about TIMECOP is how cheesy it is. Mia Sara has the thankless role of Van Damme's murdered wife and finds yet more reasons to take her top off as often as possible, while the ever-reliable Ron Silver puts in a thoroughly slimy and totally villainous performance as a corrupt senator, who meets his end when his two selves (present and future) touch, turning him literally into a glob of goo - sadly, it has to be said, this effect isn't what it could have been. Other than that there are the usual assorted bruisings, beatings, whippings, and beltings with Van Damme kicking people in the face as his preferred tactic (whereas Seagal likes to break people's arms, and Schwarzenegger just shoots them). The most impressive computer effect here is where a man's arm is frozen and then kicked off by Van Damme, shattering into a million pieces. To help take our mind off the flimsy, and sometimes contrived, plot, there are a number of fight sequences (as to be expected from every Van Damme film ever made) which keep the attention as always, and one gob-smacking bit of CGI work. After all, it's a film dealing with time travel, and, as the writers of any time travel film or programme soon find out, its a head scratching theme from the start, and paradoxes soon turn up by the dozen. And, like his previous experiment in futuristic themes, TIMECOP is flawed. After the global success of UNIVERSAL SOLDIER in 1992 (not a bad little flick, but avoid the sequel like the plague), the Muscles from Brussels decided to make another science fiction film. Reviewed by Leofwine_draca 6 / 10 Slick time travel nonsense is about average for Van DammeĪnd here we have yet another Van Damme film from his height of Hollywood fame. Max brings him back for sentencing but not after telling Max that Senator McComb, the man in charge of TEC, sent him. He tracks down a former co-worker who went into the past to make money. Ten years later Max is still grieving but has become a good agent for the TEC. On the day he was chosen, some men attack him and kill his wife. A cop, Max Walker, is assigned to the group. It's called Time Enforcement Commission or TEC. Some platforms allow you to rent Timecop for a limited time or purchase the movie and download it to your device. When the ability to travel through time is perfected, a new type of law enforcement agency is formed. Timecop is available to watch, stream, download and buy on demand at Google Play. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.9 and a MetaScore of 48. Timecop is a 1994 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 38 minutes. He chases down former partners, sees the Senator as a younger man and generally discovers a lot of nefarious plots in motion. He’s now been with TEC for a decade and is one of the Commission’s best agents. The movie jumps to Walker 10 years later. As a rookie Time Enforcement Commission (TEC) agent, Walker witnesses the death of his wife Melissa when his home is attacked and explodes. The basis of the story follows Max Walker as he leaps through time, fighting and arresting criminals who abuse the new technology. Ron Silver plays an unorthodox Senator while Mia Sara is cast in the role of Walker’s wife. Jean-Claude Van Damme plays the main character Max Walker. It’s based on a Dark Horse Comic of the same name and by the same guys. Timecop is sci-fi action flick written by Mark Verheiden and Mike Richardson. After it's managed to *beep* and latch onto something with AF, then take your finger off, find the Manual Focus (MF) switch (usually on the side of your lens) and switch your lens to MF and then you're good to go - now just remember not to bump that autofocus ring (or the zoom ring either as on some lenses changing zoom affects focus, so it might be best to set how wide you want to zoom first). It helps to set your camera to use only its centre auto-focus point so you can precisely select what to focus on. Yes you usually can actually Auto Focus (AF) at night, providing you accurately point at a star that's bright enough, or at something like the moon, or failing these, on a point light source on the horizon somewhere - its all about the same distance away as far as your camera's concerned. Don't let all these ideals dissuade you though, you can still have fun and get some pretty cool shots in your backyard, in town.īefore you get tangled atop tripods, get your focus sorted first. I think the best star trail shots are ones with something interesting framing up the foreground, so perhaps near some impressive trees and an old shed or something. Another point to consider when picking your location is what to have in your foreground. Also it's best to shoot from somewhere where there's less chance of a car, a torch-wielding person, or even a plane accidentally ruining your shot. Of course you need a clear, cloudless night, and ideally a dry (not humid) night too, else condensation may form on your lens (some people literally wrap those little hand-warmers around the lens to keep it warm to prevent this). The moon too adds significant light pollution so shooting during a 'new moon' (no moon) is ideal, or when the moon has set below the horizon, or at the very least, is well out of shot (and won't move in!). There are even some gimp plugins to automate the process for the user, such as GIMP Star Trails Compositor or StarTrails for videos. You really can try this anywhere, but you'll find that if you're too close to town, then the 'light pollution' that emanates from civilisation makes it harder to see the stars, so rather than being nice and black, the background to your stars will become a pale haze instead, and this also means you won't be able to take as long a photo (ie such long trails) before it becomes completely washed out. Repeat the above step for all angles of star trails.Go to Filters>Blur>Motion Blur… adjust the angle by dragging the angle slider and keep an eye on the effect in the preview window. Select a group of star trails that have roughly the same angle (pointing in the same direction). If your camera needed some processing time between each photo, resulting in something resembling LEDs: continue with: In GIMP select each layer and change the blending mode in the layers dock (top right). Please dont judge me on that Bossclear, it was really bad i know, this Run could have been a low 17. Then just collect the Buffs, shoot the Boss and thats it. Because usually i use my Second tether to clear, them and Knights are already dead. (Need Stompies for that jump as an Hunter.)Īfter i jumped up i Tether asap, here comes the Surrounded Shotgun in Clutch, usually i kill them before the first time they fade away, but i choked it in my Run really hard, because i switched to my Energy Weapon ( its really hard sometimes if u switch a lot between Kinetic/Energy Shotgun.) Then i had a lot of Trouble with the little Taken friends. After that i take the Shortcut to over the Chasm. Nothing Special here, just skip almost all Enemys, dont get hit by the Taken Balls from the Captains, and on the last Staircase i usually throw a nade, and kill a few Adds, to get my super, and hopefully 2 Bricks Special Ammo. This is nothing Special, as soon as i go up the first big Elevator i switch to the new Threat Level with Surrounded and Surrounded Spec, and a Curated Roll Nation of Beasts. After that i switch back to Top Tree Nightstalker.Ĥ. After that i Slam if on the far Right side, use my Bladebarrage, go immediately into the Scope, and shoot first set of Axion Darts, after that its basically don't miss a shot. But other than that, its just running around and hope the Wizards dont get to much Shielded. In my Run, i get booped off the Ogre, because i didn't pay that much attention. You can easily take out the Wizards, dont loose much Ammo, and everytime i break a Wizard's Shield, i get my Nade back, to kill all the Adds around it. The Genesis Fate Cries Foul comes in Clutch here. Since the Change of the AI Movement, and the 1k nerf (used 1k prepatch to onephase the Ogre, alot easier then with Whisper) i needed to change up Stuff here a little bit. So this is where the fun begins, this is basically the hardest Part on this Run for sure, and caused me a lot of headeache. i use my Spectral Blades to speed up things a little bit, immediately after jumping out of the Slowroom i switch to Bladebarrage to charge up super for the Vorgeth Encounter, yes i know Goldengun is basically the same, and does a little bit more dmg, but it doesn't make the difference for me. Before i go In there i switch to my Whisper, and get Ammo with Taken Armaments. After that i get a crouched Headshot to get Invis, basically i go with that one until the Slow Thrall Room. I kill the 2 Vandals on Top, then jump over and shoot the Captain with 1k, after the nerf it takes usually 3 shots, if he doesn't freak out. What i do here is jump a little Skip on the Wall, to get to the Top Balconys, so i dont need to kill all the Vandals Minotaurs and Acolytes on the bottom. Here its pretty much RNG if you get a fast/slow run. After the last Architect im going to switch to a Fate Cries Foul with Genesis/Tripletap (use for that u see later.), and Spectral Blades. The Best RNG would be first 3 Symbols Left and 3 Symbols Right, so Traveltime is basically low. Because with Tether you get alot of your Nades back and Repurposing is also helpful for Heavy Ammo, and then its basically just nuke the Architects with 1k and Ikelos SG if needed. What i usually do here is play Tether + One Thousand Voices/Ikelos Shotgun in combination with Taken Armaments and Taken Repurposing. If u guys want to have a little Strat Breakdown:ġ. I managed to Speedrun the Shattered Throne Solo in 18:06 MinutesĬhoked the Bossfight Real Hard, and had not the best RNG on the Entrance! but other than that really solid run. About halfway through the game, you may realize that the leaderboards in Clustertruck are looking for speed. This leads me on to my next point, which is replayability. The abilities are controlled by mouse clicks which don’t feel intrusive due to the already simple yet effective control scheme. On the left side of the skill tree you have the likes of an air-dash, double jump and a teleport, and on the right you have the ability to slow time or fire a placeholder truck to get you out of a tight spot. I opted for the double-jump and truck shooter and that saw me through most of the game, though when I finished I spent a lot of time messing with the abilities and had a ton of fun making ridiculous combinations. To help you out on your truck-jumping mission you’ll be able to use some abilities, which you can unlock with your style points for completing missions at high speed, or with excellent flair. Once you have enough you can choose from a myriad of abilities. Think childhood favorite “The Floor Is Lava” but with higher stakes, and the furniture is moving unpredictably. The only controls are WASD and the Space Bar, and you have to make it through the onslaught of vehicles without falling to your death. There’s a goal in the distance, and you have to go through hell and high water to get there. You are an unknown entity on the back of a truck. The gameplay of Clustertruck is the same in every one of the 90 missions on display at launch. The game feels like a complete experience founded on this unique idea which, although incredibly simple, works very well. This is the heart of the game teased in the alpha, and they haven’t strayed too far from it. That game was built on grass-roots popularity through Reddit, which has spurred them on to explore new ideas, including a platforming game in which you jump between trucks on a dangerous highway.
